I. Competitive Athletics at the High School Level

Team Name: LAS Buffaloes
School Colors: Blue and Gold
Athletic Conference: SAISA South Asia Inter Schools' Association
Competition Format: All SAISA teams meet at a host school for the particular sport being competed. A weekend long round-robin tournament is held to determine the Conference Champion in that sport. LAS currently funds fifty percent of the cost of the trip for our competing LAS athletes while family members pay the remaining fifty percent. This includes the cost of air travel and athletic conference team and player registration. Students are housed and fed at the homes of host school students.

and Recreation at LAS

Middle School Athletics

Two times each year the three SAISA schools in Pakistan (Karachi American School, the International School of Islamabad, and LAS), conduct weekend-long athletic conventions. Students from the three schools meet at the host school and depending on the format may compete representing their own school or at other conventions students from different schools may be mixed onto teams. The three SAISA schools in Pakistan try to find the right blend of rigorous competition as well as learning to participate together with students from other schools in a positive manner. We will be friends with each other for a lifetime so we engage each other accordingly!

Student and Alumni Informal Weekend Sports

In addition to the above, every weekend one can usually find a volleyball match (Saturday afternoons) or soccer match (or two or three!) to join on campus. There are informal get-togethers but reflect how our students and alumni take great advantage of our facilities. LAS maintains a weekend facilities manager to oversee and coordinate these activities.

Pool Activities

We also have pool hours on the weekend from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the months of April through December and weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During the summer months the pool is open until 9:00 p.m. Use of the pool by our LAS Physical Education classes and our LAS Swim Team take priority over use by Society Members.

Usual Times of Use by Student Classes and Teams

  • Physical Education classes use the pool from 7:40 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. daily.
  • Swim Team usually practices from Monday through Thursday 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until noon - during the months of August, September, and October.

When not in use by our physical education classes or the LAS Swim Team, the pool facility is available for Lahore American Society School Members and their guests. In order to avoid arriving to use the pool and there being a scheduling conflict, please contact our Athletic Director in advance in order to confirm availability.

Elementary and Middle School Clubs
(Includes sports and recreation)

At the Elementary and Middle Schools we conduct clubs once each week right after-school. Although the clubs change from time-to-time they include bowling, ice-skating, soccer, cricket, chess, track and field, board games, volleyball, basketball, etc. In club activities we only play to have fun with our friends!
