At Lahore American School, we value our role within the local community and strive to support a number of service activities throughout the school year and beyond.

When the recent floods devastated much of northern Pakistan, students and staff quickly stepped in to organise activities to raise funds to support those most in need.

In the emergency phase of the relief project, donations of emergency supplies were generously donated by students, families, staff and community members. These donations included 100 tents, flour, rice and other foodstuffs, clothing and shoes and much needed blankets. As a special gift from our students to those children affected by the floods, LAS partnered with the Kashf Foundation and delivered gifts to the village of Muzzafargarh.

In the rebuilding phase of the project, LAS has partnered with The Imran Khan Foundation and the Seeds of Hope Program, to raise much needed funds to provide seeds for replanting in the agricultural areas affected by the floods. The Buffs for Buffs program is hoping to raise enough funds through donation and through special school events to purchase 50 buffalos by the end of the school year replacing livestock lost in the floods. Initiatives include an IPod raffle and a yard sale which raised over 240,000 rupees to be put towards the project.

Other school events included a school dance organised by the high school Student Council and the diversion of funds for staff events including the annual welcome dinner and Eid celebrations. Our support of this project will be ongoing and many other activities are planned for the remainder of the school year.
