Welcome to elementary school at Lahore American School. I’m excited about the opportunity to know you and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive 2011-2012 school year.

Please read and become familiar with the Elementary School Parent and Student Handbook. This year’s Handbook is an online version. It contains valuable information for students and parents and is designed to help readers easily locate the information needed to answer many of your questions and guide your decisions throughout the year.

Communication is the key to a successful relationship with your child’s teacher. LAS offers several avenues for communication including email, SMS, Moodle and our school website. The best way to communicate with your child’s teacher is to make an appointment. Parents can do this through email or by contacting the elementary office. The school’s weekly communication tool is the Friday Flash which is uploaded onto the school website each Friday to keep parents and students up to date with current events taking place in the school. Moodle is our virtual school component in case of unforeseen school closures. Teachers keep Moodle updated weekly with newsletters, schedules and assignments.

I encourage you to explore the school calendar and Moodle as they include information concerning the end of semester reporting dates, parent/teacher conferences and elementary assemblies. Please mark those dates on your calendar. Studies show that parental involvement in their child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school sponsored events as possible.
